There are numerous factors that affect intoxication including:
Rate. The rate at which alcohol is consumed determines how quickly the alcohol enters the bloodstream. A well-functioning liver is capable of processing about ½ ounce of alcohol per hour. Consuming more than this will increase alcohol levels in the bloodstream.
Weight and Body Fat. In general, someone that is heavier requires greater amounts of alcohol to reach a higher BAC. But body fat actually contributes to higher BAC than does muscle, so this generalization is not always accurate.
