Colorado City is a city in and the county seat of Mitchell County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,281 at the 2000 census.
Former U.S. Representative George Mahon of Lubbock was reared in Mitchell County and is honored with a statue in front of the courthouse. The Texas radio pioneer Clint Formby and his wife Margaret Clark Formby, founder of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, lived for a time early in their marriage in Colorado City and actually rented their residence from the Mahons.
Colorado City is located at 32°23′46″N 100°51′44″W / 32.39611°N 100.86222°W / 32.39611; -100.86222 (32.396163, -100.862137).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 square miles (14 km), all of it land.
