Ellenton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Manatee County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,142 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Bradenton–Sarasota–Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 square miles (12 km), of which, 3.7 square miles (9.6 km) of it is land and 1.1 square miles (2.8 km) of it (23.70%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,142 people, 1,386 households, and 953 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 856.7 people per square mile (330.6/km²). There were 1,676 housing units at an average density of 457.0/sq mi (176.3/km²).
