Lower Lake (formerly, Grantville) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, California, USA. Lower Lake is located 13 miles (21 km) east-southeast of Kelseyville, at an elevation of 1371 feet (418 m). The population was 1,294 at the 2010 census, down from 1,755 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.7 square miles (7.0 km), of which, 99.08% is land and 0.92% is water.
At the 2000 census, according to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 7.9 square miles (20 km), of which, 7.9 square miles (20 km) of it was land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km) of it (0.88%) was water.
Lower Lake was founded by E. Mitchell in 1858 and he built the first house there. The first post office opened in 1858 as well.
