Mather (49°05′56″N 99°11′28″W / 49.09889°N 99.19111°W / 49.09889; -99.19111, CST) is a community in Southwestern Manitoba, Canada, and part of the Rural Municipality of Roblin.
The area around Mather is primarily a farming community. Mather also has multiple trucking companies, a cement factory, a general store, Harms Seeds, Yake’s Automotive Shop, as well as a barbershop. There are several hog barns around Mather as well.
Mixed farming is most common in the Mather area. Commonly harvested yields consist of wheat, barley, oats, canola, corn, and flax, as well as some sunflower and pea crops.
The Rock and Memorial Wall
If you’re nearby Mather, stop to see ‘The Rock’. It was moved by road on a metal skid to the centre of Mather as a commemorative marker. It was balanced on the skid with railway ties and due to the friction of the road and skid, enough heat was created to start the railway ties on fire.
