Monango is located at 46°10′21″N 98°35′38″W / 46.1725°N 98.59389°W / 46.1725; -98.59389 (46.172520, -98.593856).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4-square-mile (1.0 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 28 people, 14 households, and 7 families residing in the city. The population density was 76.7 people per square mile (29.2/km²). There were 18 housing units at an average density of 49.3 per square mile (18.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.
