Pinehurst is a village in Moore County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,706 at the 2000 census. It is the location of the Pinehurst Resort, venue of the 1936 PGA Championship, the 1951 Ryder Cup. The host site for the 1999, 2005,& 2014 U.S. Open Golf Championships, the 2008 U.S. Amateur, the 2007 women’s U.S. Open Golf Tournament, the former home of the World Golf Hall of Fame (now located in St. Augustine, Florida), a former venue of the Tour Championship in 1991 & 1992, a recently chosen venue for the 2010 U.S. Junior Girls Golf Championship. and the venue for the 2009 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.
