Southside is the debut album of the Scottish band Texas. The album was released on 25 July 1989 by Mercury Records (UK) and Vertigo Records (Canada & North America). The album was preceded by the release of an EP entitled Everyday Now (1988) which takes its name from the album’s third single, “Everyday Now” which was released on 5 August 1989.
The album’s first single “I Don’t Want a Lover” was released in January 1989 and debuted at number 8 in the UK. Its second single was “Thrill Has Gone” and this time debuted at 60. Its third single “Everyday Now” only managed number 44, which was a lot better in terms of the previous single, “Thrill Has Gone”‘s debut charting position. The fourth single from Southside did not better “Prayer For You” was released and debuted at number 73 in the UK and managed 3 weeks in total on the UK Singles Charts.
The album debuted at number three in the UK and spent 29 weeks on the charts. The album, however, faired successful in other European music markets…
