Tallapoosa ( /tæləˈpuːsə/) is a city in Haralson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,789 at the 2000 census.
Tallapoosa, incorporated in 1860, is located in Haralson County, in northwest Georgia, about 80 kilometers (50 mi) west of Atlanta, just north of Interstate 20 and east of the Alabama state line. Its geographic coördinates are 33°45′N 85°17′W / 33.75°N 85.283°W / 33.75; -85.283 (33.7437, -85.2879).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19 km), of which, 7.4 square miles (19 km) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km) of it (0.40%) is water.
