Wadesboro is a town in Anson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,780 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Anson County.
Wadesboro is located at 34°58′N 80°4′W / 34.967°N 80.067°W / 34.967; -80.067 (34.9681, -80.0715).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.8 km), all of it land.
Originally called “Newtown”, the town was renamed in 1783 in honor of Colonel Thomas Wade after his service with the Minutemen in the Revolutionary War.
As of the census of 2010, there were 5,780 people, 1,393 households, and 930 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,194.2 people per square mile (461.8/km²). There were 1,585 housing units at an average density of 532.9 per square mile (206.1/km²).
