Chetopa is a city in Labette County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,125. Chetopa was named for Chief Chetopa, an Osage Indian chief.
Chetopa is located at 37°2′15″N 95°5′31″W / 37.0375°N 95.09194°W / 37.0375; -95.09194 (37.037452, -95.091892). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.42 square miles (3.66 km²), of which, 1.34 square miles (3.46 km²) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.2 km²) is water.
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,125 people, 493 households, and 292 families residing in the city. The population density was 842.1 people per square mile (325.1/km²). There were 647 housing units at an average density of 484.3 per square mile (187/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 85.4% White, 2.1% African American, 6.0% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 1.0% from other races, and 5.2% from two or more races.
